Sore Tooth leads to Brain Surgery

Brain

Brain

My roommate had been complaining about a sore wisdom tooth for weeks but wouldn’t see a dentist or doctor.  He began sleeping more, becoming more lethargic, then the headaches started. He stated they were blinding, stabbing pain.  He began losing words.  I was hospitalized for what I thought was a heart attack last Friday (see my post on “My Anxiety or Panic Attack“).  I came home Saturday to find him curled on the couch, unresponsive, uncommunicative and out of it.  I called the ambulance and away they went.  Monday, come to find out, he had a golfball sized abcess or mass in his brain, the same side where his sore tooth is.  He’s had to have two brain surgeries so far and faces many obstacles.  The doctors are going to look at his sore tooth when they are able to remove the respirator and feeding tubes.

So, take care of your seemingly small medical issus everyone!

Impacted teeth are teeth that put pressure on other teeth as they force their way up through the gums. While the standard molars and other teeth can become impacted, the most common type of impacted teeth are the wisdom teeth, or third molars, which are large teeth far in the back of the jaw that often move into the gum later in life.
