Healthy & Filling Breakfast

Cinnamon Oatmeal

Cinnamon Oatmeal

Do you start your day with a healthy and nutritious breakfast?  Or jot out the door with a go-mug of coffee then carb-out at lunch?

As a diabetic, I’m allowed 40 g carbs per meal, so I use those judiciously.  For my breakasts, there’s usually a 1/2 cup dry oatmeal made with either water or soymilk, with either cinnamon or peanut butter added.  if I have any fruits, I toss in a couple spoonfulls or a palmful.  Or, I have 1/2 cup plain, lowfat yogurt with 1 tsp vanilla and splenda and 1/4 cup of ‘crunchy nuggets’ or ‘Grape nuts‘ mixed in.  Still under 40 grams carbs!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it is possible to eat nutritiously and healthy without empty, fat- and sugar-laden carbs and calories.  If you’re restricted, like I am, make the most of your meals.!
